Interactive Brokers (NASDAQ: IBKR) has announced a new milestone in its platform’s expansion. Effective immediately, Interactive Brokers clients can now trade listed derivatives on Bursa Malaysia. Bursa Malaysia is one of the major stock exchanges in ASEAN.

This development allows Interactive Brokers’ clients to access two key derivatives. These include the Crude Palm Oil Futures (FCPO) and the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Futures (FKLI). These products can now be traded alongside a diverse range of global assets, including stocks, options, futures, currencies, bonds, and funds, all through a single, integrated platform.

Interactive Brokers Expands Offerings with Bursa Malaysia Derivatives

The FCPO, denominated in Ringgit Malaysia (MYR), is a futures contract on Crude Palm Oil traded on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives. Since its inception in October 1980, it has become a global price benchmark for the Crude Palm Oil market. It is widely utilized by players in the edible oils and fats industry for risk management and by fund managers and financial institutions to navigate market price fluctuations.

The FKLI, also MYR-denominated, represents the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (FBM KLCI) Futures Contract. This contract offers exposure to the constituents of the FBM KLCI index. It is actively traded by both institutional and retail investors as part of their trading strategies.

David Friedland, Head of APAC for Interactive Brokers, commented, “The introduction of Bursa Malaysia listed derivatives highlights our ongoing commitment to broadening the range of products available on our platform. With access to over 150 markets and a variety of trading instruments, we are excited to enhance our clients’ trading opportunities and strategies with these new additions.”

Interactive Brokers continues to deliver global market access, cutting-edge technology, and competitive pricing, benefiting both individual and institutional investors. The firm also plans to expand its offerings with additional Bursa Malaysia products in the future.
