Cboe Europe Derivatives (CEDX) has announced that Interactive Brokers has joined the exchange as a participant. This move will enable Interactive Brokers’ clients to access CEDX’s diverse range of equity index derivatives and equity options starting this quarter.

Interactive Brokers is now a direct trading participant on CEDX and has also become a direct clearing participant for equity derivatives on Cboe Clear Europe N.V., Cboe’s pan-European clearing house and CEDX’s clearing provider.

Iouri Saroukhanov, Head of European Derivatives at Cboe Europe, expressed enthusiasm about this development:

“We are happy to welcome Interactive Brokers to CEDX, marking a significant milestone in our mission to enhance retail investors’ access to European derivatives, especially options. Their participation underscores the demand for more efficient European derivatives markets. CEDX aims to simplify trading and clearing processes, reducing entry barriers for both institutional and retail investors. Interactive Brokers has been a valuable partner in our successful US options markets for many years, and we look forward to strengthening this collaboration in Europe to improve and expand the region’s derivatives markets.”

Milan Galik, CEO of Interactive Brokers, added:

“We are happy to introduce access to CEDX, providing our clients with another avenue to trade European derivatives alongside our existing global offerings in stocks, options, futures, currencies, bonds, and funds. The addition of CEDX’s comprehensive European equity options and index derivatives enhances our clients’ choice and flexibility, enabling more effective management of their European investments.”

CEDX, which launched in September 2021, initially offered trading in futures and options based on key Cboe Europe indices. The platform has been designed to promote on-screen liquidity and provide a single access point to pan-European equity derivatives products, thereby creating operational and capital efficiencies for participants.

In November 2023, CEDX expanded into equity options, further broadening its range during the first quarter of 2024. Currently, it offers over 300 options on companies from 14 countries, covering more than 90% of the average daily volume (ADV) and open interest for the top 600 European equity options as of April 2024.

To support client readiness, CEDX launched its first Liquidity Provider (LP) Programme for equity options on April 1, 2024. This program also applies to its index options contracts.
