Saxo Bank’s Customer Director Thomas Dam has announced his decision to leave the company, bringing to a close a 32-year career at the Copenhagen-based online broker. Dam was one of Saxo Bank’s longest-serving employees, having joined the firm in June 1993, just one year after its founding, when it was still operating under the name MIDAS.

Over more than three decades, Dam held several senior commercial and customer-facing positions across the organization. His roles included Director of Wealth Management in the Nordic region, before he most recently served as Customer Director. During his tenure, he worked closely with clients, colleagues, and partners and became closely associated with Saxo Bank’s customer strategy and culture.

Dam confirmed his resignation in a message shared on social media, noting that he formally stepped down earlier this week and will remain with the company until January 2026. In his statement, he reflected on the personal and professional significance of spending more than half of his life at one organization, describing Saxo Bank as an integral part of his identity and history.

His departure comes shortly after the Safra Group acquired a controlling stake in Saxo Bank. Dam referenced the upcoming integration with Swiss bank J. Safra Sarasin, expected to take place just after the turn of the year, as one of the factors that prompted him to consider his future. He explained that the change in ownership provided a natural moment to pause and reflect on where he stands after so many years within the same organization.

Approaching his 56th birthday, Dam said he plans to take time to reflect before deciding on his next step. While he acknowledged receiving inquiries and offers over the years, he intends to focus on conversations that help determine where his experience in customer relations, commercial development, and management can be put to use next.

Looking back on his career, Dam recalled joining MIDAS as a 23-year-old with energy and a strong desire to build relationships and deliver positive outcomes. He expressed gratitude to customers, colleagues, managers, and partners, crediting them for making his journey meaningful. Dam concluded by saying that 2026 will mark the beginning of a new chapter, one he is looking forward to exploring.
