MarketAxess Holdings has announced the launch of TraX Tape, a new data solution designed to give market participants a cleaner and more comprehensive view of bond market activity by combining regulatory transparency data with real-time analytics and contextual insights.
The new offering arrives as transparency reforms across the United Kingdom and the European Union increase the amount of bond trading data available to market participants while also creating additional challenges in interpreting fragmented reports. TraX Tape consolidates this information into a single standardized feed, helping clients analyze trading activity more efficiently.
According to MarketAxess, TraX Tape is on its TraX data platform and aggregates information from a global network of dealers and clients. The solution applies proprietary data cleansing processes developed over the past decade before enriching the data with additional analytics, including trade direction indicators and pricing context generated by the company’s AI-powered CP+ pricing engine.
Dean Berry, Group Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer of EMEA & APAC at MarketAxess, said that while market participants have access to more data than ever before, converting that information into actionable insights remains difficult. He explained that TraX Tape has been created to provide a clearer and more complete picture of market activity, enabling clients to make more informed trading decisions.
The platform introduces several features intended to improve market visibility and execution analysis. These include directional indicators for every trade to help identify market sentiment, a consolidated view of global bond trading activity through a single connection, and clean, de-duplicated data aimed at reducing operational complexity.
TraX Tape also expands coverage of bond trading activity and delivers earlier visibility into transactions while integrating yield and spread calculations to support trading analysis.
Berry added that although consolidated tape initiatives are going to increase transparency and standardization across global bond markets, TraX Tape extends that foundation by adding contextual intelligence derived from activity on one of the world’s largest electronic credit trading platforms. He said the solution not only reports what happened in the market but also helps users understand the significance of those trading events.
