Capitolis has signed an agreement to acquire 20 Gates Management’s U.S. Secured Financing Platform, marking its expansion into the U.S. secured financing market. The transaction is expected to close in the coming weeks, subject to customary conditions.

Through the acquisition, Capitolis will integrate U.S. secured financing capabilities into its Capital Marketplace, broadening its product scope and extending its reach among financial institutions. The move also brings a roster of established clients and experienced professionals from 20 Gates Management into the Capitolis network.

Capitolis & 20 Gates Management’s U.S. Secured Financing Platform

20 Gates Management’s U.S. Secured Financing Platform has been active for more than 15 years, supported by a base of banks and institutional investors. By incorporating the platform, Capitolis gains access to long-standing relationships with major market participants and adds industry specialists with deep experience in secured financing structures.

Gil Mandelzis, CEO and Founder of Capitolis, said the firms have known and partnered with each other for years. He noted that Capitolis already offers secured financing solutions in Europe through its Capital Marketplace, and the addition of U.S. capabilities addresses client demand in another core market. Mandelzis also highlighted the addition of experienced team members and established client relationships as part of the transaction.

Hans Bald, CEO of 20 Gates Management, said the firm has long-standing ties with Capitolis and expressed confidence in the company’s expertise and market presence. He stated that 20 Gates will continue to concentrate on its core asset management activities, investing in private and revolving asset-backed securities (ABS) for its clients.

Also, the acquisition comes as Capitolis continues to expand its product coverage and leadership team. Recent senior appointments include Okan Pekin as President, Roy Saadon as Head of Market Development and Portfolio Optimization, Richard Schiffman as Chief Product Officer, Amol Naik as Chief Operating Officer, and Melanie Carucci as Global Head of Sales.
