IC Markets has moved ahead with its proprietary trading unit, IC Funded, by appointing industry executive Petros Kalaitzis as General Manager. The hire signals a clear push by the global brokerage group to strengthen its position in the prop trading space and formalize leadership for the IC Funded brand.

Kalaitzis is based in Cyprus and brings more than a decade of experience across brokerage services, fintech, and proprietary trading. Over the past two years, he served as Deputy CEO and Chief Strategy Officer at FunderPro, a prop firm operating within a broader fintech group. That group also includes Netrios, a firm focused on broker-as-a-service and prop-as-a-service technology, as well as Red Acre, an IT services company working with brokers. His time at FunderPro placed him at the center of both operational and strategic decision-making for a modern prop trading business.

Before joining FunderPro, Kalaitzis held senior roles at several well-known industry firms. He was Managing Director at Tools for Brokers and led the company’s Cyprus office, overseeing business development and regional operations. Earlier in his career, he worked at NAGA Group as Chief Experience Officer, where he focused on client-facing services and platform engagement. He also served as Head of Client Services at Tickmill and as Manager of Retail and Corporate Sales at Saxo Bank Cyprus, gaining exposure to both retail and institutional client segments.

Kalaitzis began his career in the FX industry in 2012 as a Dealer at eToro, where he built his foundation in trading operations and market execution. Over the years, his progression through brokerage technology, customer experience, and prop firm leadership roles has given him a broad view of how trading firms scale, manage risk frameworks, and build trader communities.

At IC Funded, Kalaitzis will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, shaping business direction, and guiding the unit’s growth within the wider IC Markets ecosystem. His appointment reflects IC Markets’intention to treat prop trading as a structured business line rather than a side offering, with dedicated leadership and a long-term roadmap.

The move comes as competition among proprietary trading firms continues to intensify, with brokers and fintech groups increasingly entering the space. By bringing in an executive with direct prop firm experience and a background in brokerage technology, IC Markets positions IC Funded for its next phase of development.
