Interactive Brokers Adds New Themes Widget to PortfolioAnalyst

Interactive Brokers has expanded the capabilities of its PortfolioAnalyst platform with the introduction of a new Investment Themes Widget. This gives traders and investors another way to evaluate how their portfolios are across broader market narratives.

The Investment Themes Widget is here to provide visibility into how individual holdings and overall portfolios align with commonly tracked investment themes. By organizing positions through a thematic lens, the tool helps users understand where their capital exposure sits beyond traditional asset allocation and sector breakdowns.

One of the main functions of the widget is its prioritized theme view. Investment themes are automatically ranked based on their relative strength and portfolio weight, allowing users to see which themes have the strongest presence at the top of the list. This structure helps surface dominant themes quickly without requiring manual sorting or filtering.

The widget also includes drill-down analysis for deeper insight. Users can expand any listed theme to view the underlying companies associated with it, along with each company’s rank within that theme. This makes it easier to assess which holdings are driving exposure and how concentrated that exposure may be within specific names.

Performance tracking is another feature into the widget. Traders can view unrealized profit and loss for each company tied to a theme, enabling them to monitor how different themes are performing within the portfolio. This theme-based performance view supports more informed decisions around rebalancing or risk management.

To ensure full transparency, the Investment Themes Widget also displays unmapped positions separately. This allows users to identify holdings that are not currently to a defined theme, reducing blind spots in portfolio analysis.

Accessing the new widget is straightforward. Users can navigate by selecting Performance & Reports, then PortfolioAnalyst, and locating the Investment Themes Widget within the platform. Alternatively, it is available through the Menu in the top left corner by selecting PortfolioAnalyst and navigating to the widget. Additional details are available by selecting the blue arrow icon in the top right corner of the widget interface.

With this update, Interactive Brokers continues to add analytical tools aimed at helping users better understand portfolio structure and exposure from multiple perspectives.
