Interactive Brokers (IBKR) has rolled out its latest beta build, version 10.40, of the Trader Workstation (TWS) platform, introducing a significant enhancement: the Order Recovery functionality. This new feature is designed to help traders maintain continuity during network interruptions, ensuring that orders are not lost and can be efficiently resumed once connectivity is restored.
Traders can access the feature through Global Configuration → API → Setting, where a new option, “Maintain and resubmit orders when connection is restored”, has been added. Once enabled, this setting automatically preserves active orders on the platform during a network disconnect or after the platform undergoes an auto-restart. For active traders, this capability significantly reduces the risk of missed trades due to connectivity issues, improving reliability and confidence in order execution.
Interactive Brokers has steadily enhanced TWS over the past months, focusing on tools that improve trading efficiency and decision-making. Among recent improvements is the Connections tab, which surfaces stocks, ETFs, futures, and other instruments closely related to what traders are currently viewing. This innovative approach enables traders to quickly identify potential opportunities and explore relevant strategies without leaving the TWS platform. By highlighting connections between instruments, traders can make more informed decisions and uncover trading ideas that might otherwise go unnoticed.
The addition of Order Recovery builds on IBKR’s commitment to creating a robust and resilient trading environment. As traders increasingly rely on automated systems and real-time execution, minimizing disruptions caused by network issues or platform restarts becomes crucial. The feature demonstrates IBKR’s focus on not only expanding analytical tools but also ensuring that the infrastructure supporting those tools is dependable.
With version 10.40, Interactive Brokers continues to strengthen TWS, offering both practical solutions for operational risks and enhancements that improve market discovery. Traders using the beta can experiment with the new settings ahead of the official release, gaining firsthand experience of how Order Recovery and the Connections tab can streamline trading workflows.
